The Beer Game uses the absolute minimum of cookies needed to operate the Service. We do not use cookies for analytics, advertising, profiling, or fingerprinting. This is why you see no cookie banner: under the ePrivacy Directive and Dutch implementation, strictly necessary cookies do not require consent — only cookies whose purpose is not strictly necessary do.
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | Required? |
|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID |
Session identifier — keeps you logged in as an instructor; remembers your role / chain assignment as a player. | Browser session (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax) | Strictly necessary |
REMEMBERME |
Optional “remember me” on instructor sign-in. Set only if you tick the box. | 30 days (HttpOnly, Secure, SameSite=Lax) | Strictly necessary if enabled by user |
We use a small amount of local storage in your browser
— never sent to our server — to remember UI preferences such as the
last difficulty preset you used as an instructor, or whether you closed
the rules tooltip. This is not a cookie under the ePrivacy Directive but
we mention it here for transparency. Clearing your browser’s site
data for beergame.suplay.nl removes it.
Embedded media on the landing page (e.g. a YouTube explainer) is click-to-load: until you activate the embed, no third-party cookies are set and no request goes to YouTube. If you choose to play the video, YouTube’s own cookies and policies apply.
We do not run Google Analytics, Plausible, Matomo, or any other analytics platform on production. We rely on aggregate server logs (retained 90 days maximum) for operational diagnostics. Application errors are sent to Sentry (EU region, PII-scrubbed) — see /subprocessors.
You can delete or block our cookies via your browser settings. Blocking
PHPSESSID will prevent the Service from working (you
won’t be able to log in or stay in a game session); blocking
REMEMBERME only forces you to sign in again each session.
